Maria and Bill’s Wedding at the Bedford Village Inn

Maria and Bill’s Wedding at the Bedford Village Inn

So the Bedford Village Inn happens to be the venue I’ve photographed the most events this year-4 weddings in all. The latest was Maria and Bill’s wedding. Maria’s mom surprised the couple with a horse-drawn carriage to deliver Maria and her father to the ceremony and for the newly married couple to take a ride around the property after their ceremony. Bill bravely proposed to Maria in front of a crowd at Faneuil Hall in Boston. Becca, my intern from MassArt for the summer, attended her first wedding as my assistant and to try her skills as a second photographer.

Stephanie & Rob’s Wedding at the Boston Park Plaza

Stephanie & Rob’s Wedding at the Boston Park Plaza

I had the high honor of being the photographer for Stephanie & Rob’s Boston Park Plaza wedding July 11, 2009. Stephanie is featured in the video on my website describing my services and I used one of her photographs for my ad on The Knot because it’s so classic looking and every bride that sees it has said they want a photo like it!

I’ve photographed Rob and Stephanie’s engagement session at the Arnold Arboretum last Fall and we included their beloved pug Leelin in the photos. He wasn’t allowed in the wedding reception facility though, so he had to stay home for the wedding. Rob proposed to Stephanie at an Earth, Wind & Fire concert and Stephanie walked down the aisle to one of their songs. Konditor Meister did their cake with carved white chocolate roses to go with her ivory rose theme. Their band, Milo Z, brought the party to the plaza!

Julie and David’s wedding at Zorvino Vineyard

Julie and David’s wedding at Zorvino Vineyard

I was lucky enough to have the July 4th weekend off and I took the opportunity to visit Montreal with my brother and cousins, but before I left, I photographed Julie and David’s wedding in Sandown, NH at Zorvino Vineyard July 3, 2009. Heavy rain meant we couldn’t take full advantage of Zorvino’s amazing backdrop. [...]

Trista and Robert’s vows renewal at Belknap Mills

Trista and Robert’s vows renewal at Belknap Mills

First post ever featuring one of my associate’s work! I brought associate photographers and a videographer on board back in March and they’ve all shot events for me this year and have events booked next year too. This is a slideshow featuring Nicolaus’ photography of Trista and Robert’s vows renewal at Belknap Mills in Laconia, NH, June 27, 2009. Rob is a machinist for a company that makes aircraft parts and Trista is a dance instructor. I personally photographed their family portrait session in August at Castle in the Clouds in Moultonborough, NH, and I’ll be photographing Trista’s trash the dress session in Nashua in October.

Kerri and Derek’s Wedding at the Atkinson Country Club

Kerri and Derek’s Wedding at the Atkinson Country Club

I photographed Kerri and Derek’s Wedding at the Atkinson Country Club Friday June 19, 2009. I also photographed their engagement session which always makes photography on the wedding day go smoother since we’ve all had a chance to work together.

Jeff and Tara’s Wedding at the Ashworth

Jeff and Tara’s Wedding at the Ashworth

I got to photograph Tara and Jeff’s wedding ceremony at my old home town, Newburyport, at the Unitarian Universalist Church June 20, 2009. Tara’s father was a former Lowell Sun photographer and by coincidence, I was a photographer there too! We were able to talk shop on the limo ride from the ceremony to the waterfront for formal photos. Then we headed to Hampton Beach in NH for their reception at Ashworth by the Sea on Ocean Boulevard.

Vicky and Jim’s Portrait session

Vicky and Jim's Portrait session

I had the pleasure of photographing Vicky and Jim, a Canadian couple from Saskatchewan for their portrait session on location near their home in Chelmsford, MA. Jim works here while Vicky is in graduate school in Boston. They hadn’t been photographed in awhile and because of distance, don’t get to see family often, so they decided to do a portrait session. They included their cute pomeranian dogs in some photographs too.

Katie and Andrew’s Red Lion Inn Wedding Reception

Katie and Andrew’s Red Lion Inn Wedding Reception

I hadn’t photographed a wedding at the Red Lion Inn since 2007, so it was nice to get down to Cohasset, MA to be the photographer for Katie and Andrew’s wedding there June 13, 2009. Andrew’s father is the Reverend at Old South Union Church in Weymouth and he presided over the wedding ceremony which was nice–it’s more personal and moving that way.

Last time I was at Red Lion, the fire alarms went off, so it was nice to have smooth sailing this time around! We took time to do formal photographs on the beach and seawall in Cohasset and the timing and lighting was perfect.

Amy and David’s Sky Meadow wedding

Amy and David’s Sky Meadow wedding

I photographed Amy and David’s wedding at Sky Meadow in Nashua June 7, 2009. My associate photographer, Beth Donnell, joined me and she photographed the groom and his guys getting ready at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Nashua. In Amy’s words: He’s 6’4″, She’s 5’2″. He’s lived all over the country, She was born and [...]

Lindsey and Jason’s Bedford Village Inn Wedding

Lindsey and Jason’s Bedford Village Inn Wedding

I was back at the Bedford Village Inn in Bedford, NH June 6th as Jason and Lindsey’s wedding photographer. Love the red lighting, flowers and lipstick-lots of color! Jason is a singer for the band, Necessary Roughness.

Trash the Dress on the Today Show

A few people have sent me this link to a today show video about trash the dress sessions. This is a great explanation for why it has become popular and features some great photographers, including one of my favorite photographers and the guy credited with starting the trend, John Michael Cooper.

Amy and Mike’s engagement session at the Boston Public Gardens

Amy and Mike's engagement session at the Boston Public Gardens

I photographed Amy and Mike’s engagement photos at the Boston Public Gardens May 2, 2009. I had only just begun the session when I noticed a family with a little girl who, by her appearance, looked like she may have been in treatment for cancer. The father watched us and upon realizing I was a professional photographer, approached and asked if I could take a photo of his daughter with the beautiful light in the park. They had flown in from Chicago in a rush against time for surgery in a Boston hospital for their daughter, who I’ll call “Hannah from Chicago.” He explained that she was supposed to be in remission until a recent appointment when another tumor was found in her brain. He was very apologetic for interrupting, but I think Amy, Mike and myself were moved by the request. I was more than happy to oblige, and Amy and Mike didn’t mind giving up some time on a beautiful sunny day. Amy works in a medical profession, so she knew what was at stake.

I followed up with Hannah’s father Neal a few days later, and here was his reply from his blackberry, still at the hospital: “I am replying from hospital. Surgery successful. Tumor (re-occurance) completely removed per this afternoon’s MRI! We are so relieved. Thank you with you kindness regarding the photos. We felt bad interrupting your job, but were simultaneously chilled by the possibility that she might not be able to walk or smile if the surgery failed.”

I was glad Neal was brave enough to approach me. To me, this is a reminder of why photographs are so important. You never know when life will hang in the balance and it’s important to capture the good times. It was a good day, and I was grateful to be a part of it. Interesting how timing came together to make it all happen. Here’s a photo of Hannah, along with photos of Amy and Mike:

Bridal shows, seminars, weddings, portraits…..

Bridal shows, seminars, weddings, portraits.....

The last couple months have been so busy!  I’ve been attending bridal shows, wedding photography seminars, shooting lots of weddings and now I’m doing a lot of portraits too!  I’ve done some family portrait and trash the dress sessions and there are maternity and baby sessions lined up too.  More on the way to be [...]

Rene and Jeff’s wedding at the Danversport Yacht Club

Rene and Jeff’s wedding at the Danversport Yacht Club

I photographed Rene and Jeff’s wedding at the Danversport Yacht Club in Danvers, MA May 30, 2009. Can’t beat north shore weddings in the Boston area in late May before the heat sets in! Turns out Jeff is a pretty good singer-he belted out Aerosmith’s “What it Takes” and got the crowd of guests whipped into a frenzy.

Eric and Missy’s engagement sessions: Newport, RI and Quincy, MA

Eric and Missy's engagement sessions: Newport, RI and Quincy, MA

I had the opportunity to photograph a couple outfit changes and locations for Missy and Eric’s engagement photos. Their wedding is at the Newport, RI Hyatt Regency next July. They wanted some photos with the lighthouse by the Hyatt for their save-the-date cards. Eric also wanted to incorporate his hand-washed and polished Corvette, so of course I had to oblige! On another day, we headed to Wollaston Beach in Quincy as well as Marina Bay too. All told, they were great to work with and we got a great variety of environmental backdrops which will make for a nice photo guest book on their wedding day!

Chris and Caitlin’s Seaport Hotel Wedding Reception

I dodged some rain showers driving from Nashua on the way to photograph a Boston wedding August 22, 2009. We lucked out with sun as Chris and Caitlin’s wedding got under way at St. Raphael Parish in Medford, MA. Their reception followed at the Seaport Hotel’s City View Ballroom in Boston. As a surprise for their guests and to pay homage to their Irish heritage, they hired Irish step dancers to perform and the group of dancers encouraged everyone to join in at the end!
