Nicolaus – Associate Photographer
Photography is more than a career to Nicolaus, it is his passion. He has studied the art of photography at the International Center of Photography in New York City, and completed the Professional Photographers Program at the New England School of Photography in Boston, where he majored in photojournalism and minored in documentary photography. While still in school, Nicolaus learned lighting by assisting on editorial shoots for clients such as Time, Forbes, and Money magazines. He learned the skills of documentary photography by working first hand with legendary photographer Bill Burke, and by holding an internship position at the Metro Boston Newspaper.
Following graduation, Nicolaus was asked to join the Metro Boston Newspaper staff as their photo editor and photographer, where he has worked for the past three years. He covers the day to day life in and around the Boston area. Nicolaus has traveled the country in order to photograph major events, such as the recent California wildfires. Many of his stories, like “Katrina, One Year Later” and “Angel on the Border,” have been seen by thousands of readers of Metros worldwide. Nicolaus’s work was also been displayed in the Boston Globe and London Financial Times, as well as in gallery shows throughout Massachusetts.
Nicolaus has lectured on his work as a photojournalist, and his “Floodlines” work was sold in the renowned Boston Photographic Resource Center auction. Nicolaus has been using the skills he has acquired throughout his career to document weddings throughout New England, using his camera to capture unforgettable moments. He recently photographed a destination wedding in London, England. Nicolaus joined our team of wedding photographers in 2009.
