Caitlin and Chris

I photographed Caitlin and Chris for their engagement session at Harvard Yard and along the Charles River on the Cambridge side. I’m photographing their wedding in August. They’re both Harvard grads, hence the setting. They’re having their wedding reception at the Seaport Hotel.

Stephanie & Rob

I photographed an engagement session with Stephanie and Rob at the Arnold Arboretum in the Jamaica Plain neighborhood of Boston Nov. 1, 2008.  I’m shooting their wedding at the Boston Park Plaza in July. Stephanie works for the Museum of Science, which also hosts wedding receptions.

Their pug decided to be cute and pop out from under the reflector that my assistant for the day, Elena Gormley, was holding.

Marisa and Paul’s Engagement Session

September 1, 2008 by Kevin Jacobus

I had some nice light to work with during a photo shoot for Marisa and Paul at the Boston Public Garden August 17. Being a Sunday, and a rare afternoon without thunderstorms, we had our work cut out for us trying to find people-free scenes–Bostonians were taking advantage of the nice day, as was another photographer with a couple sharing the same spot by the pond for their engagement photographs too. Marisa is the maid of honor for Jill, whose wedding I’m shooting next year. I also photographed Jill and Matt’s engagement earlier this year. What a great way to work. I like being a familiar face by the time the wedding has come around.

Kerri and Derek’s Engagement Session at Maudslay State Park

August 31, 2008 by Kevin Jacobus

The last part of August has been busy– 3 weddings this Labor Day weekend! Nonetheless, I find myself with clothes pressed, batteries charged and equipment ready to go and yet a couple hours to kill before an evening wedding in Sharon, MA today, so I figure I’ll spend it updating the blog with some of my shoots from the last 2-3 weeks, starting with Kerri and Derek’s engagement session that I photographed August 12. I’ll be shooting their wedding next June at the Atkinson Country Club and Resort. They chose to do their portraits at Maudslay State Park in Newburyport. This is the second session I’ve done there this year. In Spring, it’s in bloom and it’s probably the most visually striking then. However, the landscapes are impressive anytime, and I’ve decided to post all black and white images to draw attention to that.

Emily and Jay’s Engagement Session in Nashua

July 30, 2008 by Kevin Jacobus

I took Emily and Jay to a man-made pond along Gilson Road in Nashua, NH July 10 for an engagement session. I have known Emily’s family for years going back to when I was a photographer for The Telegraph. I spent a year covering stories on her brother Ross, a Marine Corps reservist who was part of Marine Wing Support Squadron 472 at the time. We all got to know each other quite well through good times and tough times– Ross has been deployed to Iraq before at the Al Asad air base near the Syrian border. It’ll be great seeing everyone together again when I shoot Emily’s wedding in September, although bittersweet, since Ross is heading back to Iraq for another deployment, this time to Fallujah, so he won’t be able to attend the wedding.
