I have known Emily’s family for years going back to when I was a photographer for The Telegraph. I spent a year covering stories on her brother Ross, a Marine Corps reservist who was part of Marine Wing Support Squadron 472 at the time. We all got to know each other quite well through good times and tough times– Ross has been deployed to Iraq before at the Al Asad air base near the Syrian border. It’ll be great seeing everyone together again when I shoot Emily’s wedding in September, although bittersweet, since Ross is heading back to Iraq for another deployment, this time to Fallujah, so he won’t be able to attend the wedding.
