Codman Estate-Jake & Heather’s Wedding Film

Dan, one of my associate videographers, shot and edited Heather and Jake’s wedding film from their wedding and reception at Codman Estate in Lincoln, MA at the beginning of June. Have a look at their highlight reel:

Laura and Mike’s Barn at Gibbet Hill Wedding and Reception

Laura and Mike’s Barn at Gibbet Hill Wedding and Reception

Late September found me at Laura and Mike’s wedding at the Barn at Gibbet Hill in Groton, MA. This is such an amazing venue for weddings. Their food is top-notch, the views a spectacular, the feel is rustic upscale. There are loads of great scenes for portrait possibilities. Laura actually hiked up the hill at the venue to get ready. Unusual and brave indeed, but for good purpose. Mike hiked up after her and they had their first viewing and plenty of time for many more portraits of just the couple than we are usually able to get during a normal wedding timeline. There’s the remains of a castle which make for great photographs. I’m also a preferred photographer at the Barn at Gibbet Hill–this wedding is featured on their website for their wedding functions. Their venue is part of Webber Restaurant Group which also runs Fireside Catering, Scarlet Oak Tavern, the Gibbet Hill Grill, and the Estate at Moraine Farm.

Engagement Session Gallery

Engagement Session Gallery

An engagement session is a 1 hour photography experience celebrating the beginning of the journey of wedding planning. Often the first time a couple has been professionally photographed together, scheduling an engagement portrait session is a great way to get comfortable in front of the camera and to get to know your photographer. In addition to prints and gallery wrap canvas, a DVD slideshow set to music along with a link to share on social networks like Facebook are available in addition to photo guest books, signature boards, and a variety of photos provided by the photo shoot can be used for your Save the Date cards.

Maternity & Baby

Maternity & Baby

Maternity and newborn baby photos are an important and valuable consideration-much like weddings, the birth of a child is a major life event very much worth documenting with professional photography and prints. With newborns, it’s generally a good idea to photograph them in the first two weeks after birth for that sleeping baby image. We can create custom, cost-effective packages for clients where a maternity photo session is scheduled followed by a series of first-year baby portraits at intervals ranging from birth, 3 months, 6 months and a year or more depending on client preferences. We come to you, which makes it easier for new parents while keeping the little one quiet and happy for the photo shoot. This also allows for photographs with unique settings and items included in photos that have a personal reference for our clients.

Eugene & Kseniya’s Brandeis Faculty Club Wedding

We had great sunny, comfortable weather for wedding photography Sunday, May 16 as associate photographer Don Himsel and I headed to the Brandeis University Faculty Club for Eugene and Kseniya’s traditional jewish wedding. They met on JDate and both of their families are from St. Petersburg, Russia, where they weren’t able to have anything but secular activities. So Eugene and Kseniya decided to have a traditional Jewish wedding, complete with Ketubah signing (marriage contract), Chuppah (wedding canopy), the breaking of a glass, and Yichud, the custom of the couple retreating to a private room for 10-20 minutes after the ceremony.

We were especially honored to take part in what was a rare event for their family because of the nature of the customs and politics in their country of origin.

Don and I were pretty excited about the copper-clad backdrop of the Shapiro Campus Center for portrait photography. Check out this slideshow which is a mix of my photos and Don’s from their wedding:

Julie and David’s wedding at Zorvino Vineyard

Julie and David’s wedding at Zorvino Vineyard

I was lucky enough to have the July 4th weekend off and I took the opportunity to visit Montreal with my brother and cousins, but before I left, I photographed Julie and David’s wedding in Sandown, NH at Zorvino Vineyard July 3, 2009. Heavy rain meant we couldn’t take full advantage of Zorvino’s amazing backdrop. [...]

Chris and Caitlin’s Seaport Hotel Wedding Reception

I dodged some rain showers driving from Nashua on the way to photograph a Boston wedding August 22, 2009. We lucked out with sun as Chris and Caitlin’s wedding got under way at St. Raphael Parish in Medford, MA. Their reception followed at the Seaport Hotel’s City View Ballroom in Boston. As a surprise for their guests and to pay homage to their Irish heritage, they hired Irish step dancers to perform and the group of dancers encouraged everyone to join in at the end!

Group “Rock the Dress” session featured in Gloucester Daily Times

Group "Rock the Dress" session featured in Gloucester Daily Times

A portrait session I arranged of a group of recent brides bravely jumping into the ocean for a “trash the dress” photo was featured in today’s Gloucester Daily Times! Here’s the press release I sent to the newspaper:

Gloucester, MA, September 20, 2009 — As many as 8 recently married women will don their wedding gowns once again for a “trash the dress” group portrait session with Kevin Jacobus Photography Sunday, Sept. 20 on Half Moon Beach at Stage Fort Park. The trend of bridal portraits with a dramatic twist is gaining popularity as brides seek portraits with the fun and excitement of reliving a part of their wedding day without worrying about getting their dress dirty.

Brides will be photographed by the NH-based wedding and portrait photographer in a variety of themed sessions concluding with 8 women jumping into the ocean in their wedding gowns for a dramatic and unusual photograph.

Half Moon Beach was chosen as a location for its combination of sandy beach and rocky outcroppings that provide a beautiful backdrop for a set of photographs that will emcompass fun and fashion.

Katerina & Stephen

Katerina & Stephen

Saturday March 7 found me at the wedding of Stephen and Katerina. They met while attending a graduate certificate program at Boston University. Several of their classmates attended their wedding.

Katerina is from Ohrid, Macedonia. Stephen grew up in Peabody, MA. Many of Katerina’s friends from Macedonia attended their wedding. Lively crew–they all danced in long lines holding hands well into the night!

Sarah and Jon’s Wedding at The Granite Rose

Sarah and Jon’s Wedding at The Granite Rose

Sarah and Jon were married at the First Congregational Church in Methuen, MA, followed by a reception at The Granite Rose in Hampstead, NH, Sunday June 29. It was hot and humid, so everyone was glad to get inside following formal photos. Later, we had quite a thunderstorm that almost stopped the music–power flickered a bit and everyone held their breath for a moment.

Emily and Brendan’s Wedding in Lisbon, Maine

Emily and Brendan’s Wedding in Lisbon, Maine

I photographed Emily and Brendan’s wedding at Holy Trinity Church in Lisbon Falls, Maine, May 31st. The couple lives in Somerville, MA, but Brendan is from Maine and they were married there to take advantage of Brendan’s parents home for a backyard tented wedding reception. Both of them are hilarious jokers, as you can see from a lot of the photos of them clowning around. And so it was a bit surprising to me, and I’m sure for Emily, when nerves got the better of her for a moment as she was getting ready. I like how all the female family members are attending to her with great concern. The moment passed quickly enough; it was all smiles and laughter after that.

Jill and Matt’s Engagement Session at Maudslay State Park

Jill and Matt's Engagement Session at Maudslay State Park

I photographed Matt and Jill’s engagement session May 25 in Newburyport, MA. Just by sheer coincidence, it happens that Jill and I both graduated from Newburyport High School. Small world indeed. So, it was fitting that we did the engagement session at a number of sites in Newburyport. We started at Maudslay State Park, headed over to the beach on Plum Island, and finished up on the boardwalk downtown. Matt and Jill are avid runners– Matt finished 59th in the 2004 Boston Marathon. Basically, me running is like a leisurely stroll for him. Humbling…… I’m shooting their wedding April 17, 2009 at The Commons in Topsfield.

Amanda and Bill’s Wedding at Vesper Country Club

Amanda and Bill’s Wedding at Vesper Country Club

Bill and Amanda made the trip up from Washington D.C. for their wedding and reception May 3 at Vesper Country Club in Tyngsborough, MA. The photographs show a range of emotions Amanda had throughout the day. It was actually pretty cold that day, so we warmed things up with a fun ride on one of the club’s golf carts– love their reactions!

Nate & Melanie’s Wedding at the Haverhill Country Club

Nate & Melanie’s Wedding at the Haverhill Country Club

I photographed Nate and Melanie’s wedding September 14 at the Haverhill Country Club. Nate is a NH State Trooper and an Iraq war veteran, so it was fitting that Scott, the DJ from Mounds of Sound, played “Bad Boys” by the band Inner Circle, the theme song of the TV show COPS, during a lighter moment at the reception. The couple were married at St. James Church in Haverhill. Unfortunately a guest suffered some sort of medical emergency which stopped the celebration short for awhile. Scott is a talented DJ with over twenty years in the business, and he carefully eased the music back after things had settled a bit and gradually brought up the tempo. He really helped save the day by bringing back a happy celebration and having it end on a good note.
