Melinda and Jeff’s Wedding at Searles Castle

I photographed Melinda and Jeff’s wedding August 24 at Searles Castle in Windham, NH. I think Melinda might possibly be one of the nicest brides I’ve ever worked with. There’s a photo below of her dancing and I think you can see that kind, happy demeanor beaming right out of her. I spent a lot of time with Melinda and Jeff at a couple meetings and really clicked with them on their wedding day. That’s Anisa Jasman from Grace Limousine. She is usually the events coordinator for Grace, but she is personally known to the family and drove by request.

Melinda shows off for her Dad. He was literally speechless, and he had to leave the room to keep control of his emotions. They caught up with him later, as you’ll see below….

Melinda’s Dad couldn’t avoid it during the father-daughter dance–his emotions caught up with him.

Chip and Sharon’s Wedding at Church Landing

Time to do a little catch up with the blog. August and Sept. have been super busy! I photographed Chip and Sharon’s wedding at Church Landing in Meredith, NH, Saturday August 23, 2008. I photographed Chip getting ready on his boat, which can be conveniently docked right at the wedding location. I was waiting beside his boat for him to return from an errand and a woman came along and asked if someone famous was getting married. The location and having a boat for transport lends itself to that kind of speculation. Not at all unreasonable, seeing as how former MA Governor Romney and French President Nicolas Sarkozy vacation here. I had a little fun with her and teased with a grin, “Who’s asking?” She had that look like she wasn’t sure if I was kidding or not. I had the same thing happen last summer. I had a wedding prep photo shoot going on in the same hotel as where Marilyn Manson was staying the day of his concert in Worcester, MA and an overzealous fan hoping to catch a glimpse of the rock star thought I had some inside information. I didn’t joke with him at all, but I think he thought I was being evasive when I told him I was shooting a wedding. They used Rob Willis from A Goodtime DJ’s for the entertainment. I worked a wedding with Rob about a month ago too and he’s a great guy.

Their Reverend waits for the cue to lead the guys out to the tent for the outdoor ceremony.

Look at the delight in the face of this little girl!

Maybe this flower girl has photography in her future! She was boldly getting a good angle on the shot.

I was working with another photographer on this wedding and I had him duck behind the couple and pop a flash as I took a long exposure.

Friends. This woman has done a pretty good job of framing the picture, judging by the back of the LCD screen on her camera. Pretty good for a blind shot.
Great Green Greek Wedding at Rye Harbor State Park

Alright, so that headline was a weak attempt at alliteration perhaps. It was a Greek wedding though. With green dresses, ties, bows, cake, and antique car. And it was a great wedding in a beautiful little chapel followed by a tented reception by the ocean. Erin and Tim were married August 16 at the Union Chapel in North Hampton, NH followed by a reception at Rye Harbor State Park.

I like the multiple reflections in this photo. Yeah, I admit, the one in the TV was extra, I was going for the mirrors.

Their godfather William performed the crowning, or Stefana, a tradition of Greek weddings.

Sibling fist bump!

What a cool couple, sporting their aviator sunglasses! While those clouds were the first sign of an approaching thunderstorm that later soaked the hardworking caterers, they nonetheless made me very happy with the amazing backdrop.

Tim’s sister studies for a reading.

Breaking stuff is fun! Greeks keep their shoes on during dancing– broken glass being a hazard after this tradition.

Erin somehow managed to avoid green icing on her white dress!
Kerri and Derek’s Engagement Session at Maudslay State Park

The last part of August has been busy– 3 weddings this Labor Day weekend! Nonetheless, I find myself with clothes pressed, batteries charged and equipment ready to go and yet a couple hours to kill before an evening wedding in Sharon, MA today, so I figure I’ll spend it updating the blog with some of my shoots from the last 2-3 weeks, starting with Kerri and Derek’s engagement session that I photographed August 12. I’ll be shooting their wedding next June at the Atkinson Country Club and Resort. They chose to do their portraits at Maudslay State Park in Newburyport. This is the second session I’ve done there this year. In Spring, it’s in bloom and it’s probably the most visually striking then. However, the landscapes are impressive anytime, and I’ve decided to post all black and white images to draw attention to that.

Stacey and Chris’s Wedding at Bear Island on Lake Winnipesaukee

I headed up to Lake Winnipesaukee for Chris and Stacey’s wedding August 2nd. They had boats ferrying guests to Bear Island, where Stacey’s family has a vacation home. I was there all day, which meant I was able to accompany Chris and some early-arriving guests on a hike around the island. There’s an old church towards the center of the island called St. John’s on the Lake. Church-goers arrive by boat and hike up to the church for services. Their ceremony, however, was held on Stacey’s parent’s property. The rain held off until the end of the day, so kids could play all day, which meant lots of squirt gun battles and swimming. Of course, Chris and some of his adult guests took advantage of the lake setting to cool off too. I got off the island in the nick of time at the end of the day– a major thunderstorm was brewing and I just got back to the dock in Meredith, NH when the thunder and lightning started.

Their dog Tilly made sure the caterer wouldn’t have to deal with left-overs! The caterer carted several boatloads of supplies from the public dock on Cattle Landing Road in Meredith and back at the end of the day.

Members of the band horse around.

This little guy is well armed for the impending squirt gun battle!

Matriarch.

Chris and friends cool off after the wedding. I like the contrast between this photo, and the one below, taken moments apart….

Stacey, still in wedding gown, has a moment of quiet solitude observing guests swimming.

More horsing around! She was initially trying to help him up onto a submerged rock, and when that didn’t work with slippery hands, she joked with the hair pull.

Stacey shows off her ring, a heirloom diamond from her aunt, reset from a four prong setting to a six prong setting.
