I spent an afternoon recently at the newly opened Yoga Redefined studio at 55 Lake St. in Nashua to photograph a class as well as owner Dena Carbone and fellow instructor Deb Balise for their marketing and website use. The Lake St. location is in a mill building that is being renovated with brand new, bright and beautiful studios, a great addition to the city of Nashua. If you are into yoga or would like to try it out, be sure to check out their schedule online here.

I worked with Telegraph reporter Ashley Smith to produce this video of Southern NH Medical Center nurses sharing their thoughts on their military service in the Iraq War. Footage includes photographs and interviews about their deployment experiences serving the emergency medical needs of U.S. troops as well as captured enemy combatants.

I went back to Christy’s in Nashua, NH once she had her baby and we made some more portraits. In one session, we were able to photograph the new addition to the family on his own, with mom, with dad, sisters as well as little details. This is the value of custom, on location portrait [...]

I took frequent client Trista down to the Mill buildings in downtown Nashua for a trash the dress session with an urban feel. The brick buildings, fire escapes, a pedestrian bridge and some graffiti all lend nice elements to the theme. It’s right by Mine Falls Park too, so we took advantage of that for some variety.

Trash the Dress? Not usually. It’s an industry term that has caught on to refer to post-wedding photo sessions. The idea is to create a collection of photographs you wouldn’t be able to on your wedding day. We’ve heard from more than a few brides how they would have loved a beach wedding, circumstances usually preventing that. Most of the time the dress isn’t harmed, other needing a trip to the cleaner’s. Trash the dress may be the most commonly heard term, but it’s also called an encore session, rock the dress, drown the gown, day after session, rock the frock, etc. It’s also a time to be photographed without worrying about getting a dress dirty or if a couple just wants more time creating a series of portraits than the normal timeline of a wedding day permits. A trash the dress session is not about destroying a dress, it’s about the creation of a bold and unique set of photographs you might not otherwise do. If you want the best of both worlds, keep your wedding dress stored away if you are worried about harming it and get an inexpensive dress on eBay or other thrifty means. We’ve had a number of clients do that and report that the cheap dress they bought fit better than the one on their wedding day!

First post ever featuring one of my associate’s work! I brought associate photographers and a videographer on board back in March and they’ve all shot events for me this year and have events booked next year too. This is a slideshow featuring Nicolaus’ photography of Trista and Robert’s vows renewal at Belknap Mills in Laconia, NH, June 27, 2009. Rob is a machinist for a company that makes aircraft parts and Trista is a dance instructor. I personally photographed their family portrait session in August at Castle in the Clouds in Moultonborough, NH, and I’ll be photographing Trista’s trash the dress session in Nashua in October.

I photographed Amy and David’s wedding at Sky Meadow in Nashua June 7, 2009. My associate photographer, Beth Donnell, joined me and she photographed the groom and his guys getting ready at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Nashua. In Amy’s words: He’s 6’4″, She’s 5’2″. He’s lived all over the country, She was born and [...]

I am excited to announce that I am taking part in a fundraiser for Ryan Cavanaugh of Nashua Thursday evening! Ryan is a 10 year-old boy who has been afflicted with Marfan syndrome, a genetic disorder of the connective tissue, his entire life. He already had open-heart surgery once when he was 21 months old.
Ryan will undergo open-heart surgery to replace two heart valves and his aortic root. His surgery is scheduled for March 12. Unfortunately, his family found out that the surgery was needed only within the past few weeks, after a recent MRI. Doctors said the surgery would have to be scheduled as soon as possible.

I took Emily and Jay to a man-made pond along Gilson Road in Nashua, NH July 10 for an engagement session. I have known Emily’s family for years going back to when I was a photographer for The Telegraph. I spent a year covering stories on her brother Ross, a Marine Corps reservist who was part of Marine Wing Support Squadron 472 at the time. We all got to know each other quite well through good times and tough times– Ross has been deployed to Iraq before at the Al Asad air base near the Syrian border. It’ll be great seeing everyone together again when I shoot Emily’s wedding in September, although bittersweet, since Ross is heading back to Iraq for another deployment, this time to Fallujah, so he won’t be able to attend the wedding.
