Kaitlyn’s High School Senior Portrait

Kaitlyn's High School Senior Portrait

I was back in Groton, MA to photograph Kaitlyn for her high school senior portrait on referral from another Groton family. We did a combination of color and black and white as well as some indoor and outdoor photography. We’re able to do a few outfit changes as well as incorporate items to highlight hobbies or school activities, like sports, or in Kaitlyn’s case, her musical talents.

Family portraits near Manchester, NH

Family portraits near Manchester, NH

I met up with the DuPaul family in late October to photograph their holiday family portrait. I’ve known the couple for years from business networking groups and it was great to take them and their children to a few spots at the Massabesic Audubon Center in Auburn, NH for some nice portraits with the country feel of a barn as well as Fall colors for backdrops.

Lakes Region Family Portrait Session

Lakes Region Family Portrait Session

I took Robert and Trista and their kids to Castle in the Clouds in Moultonborough, NH for their family portrait session in late August. Castle in the Clouds is a tourist spot for great views and for grabbing a lunch, and of course they host weddings and receptions too. It also makes a great spot for a day out with the family including an on location portrait session. Kevin Jacobus Photography has worked quite a bit with Trista and her family. My associate photographer Nicolaus photographed their vows renewal at Belknap Mills in Laconia, NH and Trista and I worked together on her “Trash the Dress” session in downtown Nashua, NH and in Greeley Park.

Maternity & Baby

Maternity & Baby

Maternity and newborn baby photos are an important and valuable consideration-much like weddings, the birth of a child is a major life event very much worth documenting with professional photography and prints. With newborns, it’s generally a good idea to photograph them in the first two weeks after birth for that sleeping baby image. We can create custom, cost-effective packages for clients where a maternity photo session is scheduled followed by a series of first-year baby portraits at intervals ranging from birth, 3 months, 6 months and a year or more depending on client preferences. We come to you, which makes it easier for new parents while keeping the little one quiet and happy for the photo shoot. This also allows for photographs with unique settings and items included in photos that have a personal reference for our clients.

Melissa & Adam’s Engagement Session at the Boston Public Garden

Melissa & Adam's Engagement Session at the Boston Public Garden

I met up with Melissa and Adam at the Boston Public Garden May 17, 2009 to photograph their engagement session. We had a memorable, funny moment–no sooner had I warned them to watch their belongings when an old man came up and started taking their nice leather jackets. He was busted and decided better of it! Added to the excitement of the day, that’s for sure. Their wedding reception was July 31st at Promises to Keep in Derry, NH. Still working on the photos from the wedding. Here’s a few from the engagement in the meantime:

Katerina & Stephen

Katerina & Stephen

Saturday March 7 found me at the wedding of Stephen and Katerina. They met while attending a graduate certificate program at Boston University. Several of their classmates attended their wedding.

Katerina is from Ohrid, Macedonia. Stephen grew up in Peabody, MA. Many of Katerina’s friends from Macedonia attended their wedding. Lively crew–they all danced in long lines holding hands well into the night!

Rally for Ryan

I am excited to announce that I am taking part in a fundraiser for Ryan Cavanaugh of Nashua Thursday evening! Ryan is a 10 year-old boy who has been afflicted with Marfan syndrome, a genetic disorder of the connective tissue, his entire life. He already had open-heart surgery once when he was 21 months old.

Ryan will undergo open-heart surgery to replace two heart valves and his aortic root. His surgery is scheduled for March 12. Unfortunately, his family found out that the surgery was needed only within the past few weeks, after a recent MRI. Doctors said the surgery would have to be scheduled as soon as possible.

Glassblowing at Diablo

Glassblowing at Diablo

I mentioned in a previous post that I’m developing an interest in glass art. My girlfriend Nancy gave me a gift certificate to Diablo Glass School in Boston and I took a weekend course there Feb. 14-15.

My classmate who took this photograph is Rachel Moyal, who happened to be a cast member on MTV’s Real World Austin show.

Glassblowing is very unforgiving. You have to work, pay attention, and not make mistakes or you’ll risk breaking the piece or messing it up.

Images with IMPACT

Kevin is teaming up with a Boston non-profit organization to do portraiture and donate a portion of the proceeds to benefit Impact Boston. 2009 is shaping up to be a tough year for many. Non-profits will no doubt struggle to provide services at the level they have in the past. It’s my intention for this year to have a portion of my professional and creative endeavors benefit those in need, and my belief is you get back what you give. So read on to learn more, see how you can take part, and also receive something of value in return.

Back from the 2009 Digital Wedding Forum Convention

Back from the 2009 Digital Wedding Forum Convention

I was out in Carefree, Arizona Jan. 10-15 for the 2009 Digital Wedding Forum Convention. It’s good for seeing what is available for products and services in the industry, learning new techniques, business management tips, and for inspiration. One of the best speakers was on the first day, keynote speaker David Williams. He’s an Australian wedding and portrait photographer and among the many valuable thoughts he shared was for photographers to regularly visit art museums to look for inspiration and posing ideas. I’ve always liked going to art museums, and I decided to make an effort to go to as many as I can as often as possible. Since coming back, I’ve gone to the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, The Newark Museum, The Metropolitan Museum of Art in Manhattan, and the Rose Art Museum at Brandeis University, the last because I heard they were closing and hadn’t been, so I figured I better before it did.

Caitlin and Chris

Caitlin and Chris

I photographed Caitlin and Chris for their engagement session at Harvard Yard and along the Charles River on the Cambridge side. I’m photographing their wedding in August. They’re both Harvard grads, hence the setting. They’re having their wedding reception at the Seaport Hotel.

Stacy & Jim

Stacy & Jim

Stacy and Jim had a New Year’s Eve wedding at were married at St. Anthony’s in Lawrence, MA, followed by a New Year’s party at the Andover Country Club. Stacy is Lebanese, and the wedding had a Maronite tradition–crowning at the ceremony.

Cathy & Kyle

Cathy & Kyle

Cathy & Kyle were married at the Veronique Ballroom in Brookline, MA, Dec. 20, 2008. She ended up getting ready there because there was a major snowstorm that day. Unfortunately, many guests from out of town couldn’t make it because of weather delays. Further compounding their wedding woes was the discovery of grease on the back of her dress that they suspected was caused by a hotel cleaning staff member moving her dress in her hotel room beforehand. Fortunately, Veronique staff had all kinds of solutions– club soda and a stain marker. Vigorous scrubbing for at least 20 minutes saved the dress, and the day. From then on, it was all fun and partying, and even a little snow fun…..
