Erin & Steve’s tent wedding in Hudson, NH

Don and I photographed Erin and Steve’s tent wedding in Hudson, NH May 22. Erin loves photos! When I get a client who is into photography, I’m always honored that they chose me. Erin made her own photo guest book which had photos of all of her guests! That’s quite an accomplishment. This wedding was a blast. They had an outdoor, tent wedding in a parents backyard in Hudson, NH. There was a humorous moment during the ceremony-everyone could hear an ice cream truck in the distance–Steve didn’t miss a beat–he yelled out, “ice cream!” for a bit of comedy relief right in the middle of the ceremony. We lucked out timing-wise on the portraits too–I flagged down the ice cream truck for a photo. Interesting vehicles aplenty at this wedding. They chartered a pair of school buses to bring guests to and from their hotel. Made for some fun and unusual wedding photos. I learned that one of Erin’s bridesmaids was a neighbor of mine. Small world! And there was a bit of sports rivalry with one big New York fan in particular! Watch the slideshow to see how it played out!

Amy and David’s Sky Meadow wedding

I photographed Amy and David’s wedding at Sky Meadow in Nashua June 7, 2009. My associate photographer, Beth Donnell, joined me and she photographed the groom and his guys getting ready at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Nashua.

In Amy’s words:
He’s 6′4″, She’s 5′2″.
He’s lived all over the country, She was born and raised in the same house.
He’s the king of procrastinating, She’s the queen of planning.
He likes excitement, She likes routine.
He loves anything chocolate, She loves anything fruity.
He is a video game junkie, She is a television junkie.
With all these differences, there is one gigantic similarity that ties them together…
They are in love and each other’s best friend.
On December 23, 2007 He asked and She said YES.

As a nice tribute, Amy and her sister Melissa gave a speech in honor of their parents who celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary exactly one month after the wedding.

Great Green Greek Wedding at Rye Harbor State Park

September 1, 2008 by Kevin Jacobus

Alright, so that headline was a weak attempt at alliteration perhaps. It was a Greek wedding though. With green dresses, ties, bows, cake, and antique car. And it was a great wedding in a beautiful little chapel followed by a tented reception by the ocean. Erin and Tim were married August 16 at the Union Chapel in North Hampton, NH followed by a reception at Rye Harbor State Park.

I like the multiple reflections in this photo. Yeah, I admit, the one in the TV was extra, I was going for the mirrors.

Their godfather William performed the crowning, or Stefana, a tradition of Greek weddings.

Sibling fist bump!

What a cool couple, sporting their aviator sunglasses! While those clouds were the first sign of an approaching thunderstorm that later soaked the hardworking caterers, they nonetheless made me very happy with the amazing backdrop.

Tim’s sister studies for a reading.

Breaking stuff is fun! Greeks keep their shoes on during dancing– broken glass being a hazard after this tradition.

Erin somehow managed to avoid green icing on her white dress!

Stacey and Chris’s Wedding at Bear Island on Lake Winnipesaukee

August 8, 2008 by Kevin Jacobus

I headed up to Lake Winnipesaukee for Chris and Stacey’s wedding August 2nd. They had boats ferrying guests to Bear Island, where Stacey’s family has a vacation home. I was there all day, which meant I was able to accompany Chris and some early-arriving guests on a hike around the island. There’s an old church towards the center of the island called St. John’s on the Lake. Church-goers arrive by boat and hike up to the church for services. Their ceremony, however, was held on Stacey’s parent’s property. The rain held off until the end of the day, so kids could play all day, which meant lots of squirt gun battles and swimming. Of course, Chris and some of his adult guests took advantage of the lake setting to cool off too. I got off the island in the nick of time at the end of the day– a major thunderstorm was brewing and I just got back to the dock in Meredith, NH when the thunder and lightning started.

Their dog Tilly made sure the caterer wouldn’t have to deal with left-overs! The caterer carted several boatloads of supplies from the public dock on Cattle Landing Road in Meredith and back at the end of the day.

Members of the band horse around.

This little guy is well armed for the impending squirt gun battle!

Matriarch.

Chris and friends cool off after the wedding. I like the contrast between this photo, and the one below, taken moments apart….

Stacey, still in wedding gown, has a moment of quiet solitude observing guests swimming.

More horsing around! She was initially trying to help him up onto a submerged rock, and when that didn’t work with slippery hands, she joked with the hair pull.

Stacey shows off her ring, a heirloom diamond from her aunt, reset from a four prong setting to a six prong setting.

Deann and Jeremy’s Wedding at Pat’s Peak

July 30, 2008 by Kevin Jacobus

I photographed Deann and Jeremy’s wedding and reception at Pat’s Peak in Henniker, NH July 19. It was another hot and humid one, and a thunderstorm threatened all afternoon. Right as guests were seated for the outdoor ceremony, the downpour began, so we had to rush inside and do the ceremony in stifling heat. Jeremy is a Navy man-submariner specifically. His boat is on exercises in Florida, so he flew up right before the wedding. Most of his friends are military, and couldn’t make the wedding. Seems to be a theme here like my last post– military families making sacrifices, such as friends or relatives not being able to attend major family gatherings. They made the best of it, despite the heat, rain, and military obligations of friends unable to attend and partied hard nonetheless.

This is not a great picture– I uploaded it because I thought it was interesting what it involved. Those poles in the photo are temporary lolley columns that are moved into place underneath the dance floor. Hmmm……hope dancing doesn’t bring the party crashing down…..

Emily and Jay’s Engagement Session in Nashua

July 30, 2008 by Kevin Jacobus

I took Emily and Jay to a man-made pond along Gilson Road in Nashua, NH July 10 for an engagement session. I have known Emily’s family for years going back to when I was a photographer for The Telegraph. I spent a year covering stories on her brother Ross, a Marine Corps reservist who was part of Marine Wing Support Squadron 472 at the time. We all got to know each other quite well through good times and tough times– Ross has been deployed to Iraq before at the Al Asad air base near the Syrian border. It’ll be great seeing everyone together again when I shoot Emily’s wedding in September, although bittersweet, since Ross is heading back to Iraq for another deployment, this time to Fallujah, so he won’t be able to attend the wedding.
